ConceptDucati presents the new Monster 797, the bike with the essence of the Monster and Ducati values finally within everyone's reach. Sporty, compact, essential but at the same time sophisticated and modern, the Monster 797 is the incarnation of all the Monster values and represents a way into the Ducati world. Everything on the Monster 797 takes us back to the iconic bike of the 1990s, reinterpreted in a modern key: from the tank to the trellis frame, including the twin-cylinder air-cooled engine and the circular headlight.
DesignWith the Monster 797, the Ducati Design Centre has created a sporty and compact bike, with a dynamic, fresh design which encompasses all the Monster values. The tank is Monster in its purest form. Elegant and muscular at the same time, it has a fastening hanger at the front just like the Monster of 1993. The headlight, once again round, is the modern interpretation of what was used on the iconic naked fin right from the start. On the Monster 797, the frame is not just a structural component but it is a real design element and is once gain made as a single piece, from the rake to the tail, including the traditional tube handles for the passenger. The same concept is true of the air cooled Desmodue twin-cylinder engine whose cooling fins take us right back to the first generation Monster.
Desmo2The Monster 797 is fitted with the air cooled 803 cm3 Desmodue twin-cylinder engine. This engine is a nod to the origins of the Monster but it is a modern Euro 4 homologated engine able to deliver 75 hp* at 8,250 rpm and a maximum torque of 69 Nm at 5,750 rpm. Characterised by an 88 mm bore and a 66 mm stroke, it has been designed to offer pure riding enjoyment, like a real Ducati, without ever seeming demanding.
*The power values indicated above are measured using a chassis dynamometer. Homologated power data, as quoted in the Bike Registration Document, are measured using an engine dynamometer according to the homologation regulation. The two power values may differ because of the different measurement equipments.
